about

Ever since the birth of my first son in 2019, I've been wanting to write some music dedicated to him. In some ways the journey of parenthood made it into Three Journeys, but it wasn't quite the dedication I wanted. And then, over the winter months in 2020/2021, he became obsessed with the Moon as it became a more prominent fixture in the long nights. I don't know how much he will like the Moon or astronomy as he grows older, but it gave me a solid theme to work with.

To the Moon... is about the many different ways we can look at the Moon. How it piques our sense of wonder; how it helps us keep track of time and acts as a celestial guide; how it may one day be our key to exploring the Universe. It is about our journey into space and the monumental achievement of setting foot on another world.

But most importantly, it is for my two sons; I hope that your curiosity stays with you for your entire lives. Just as the Moon is ever-present in the sky (though it waxes and wanes) I hope to always be there for you.
